185	New install - multiple problems	Installer System defect	Old Marine	new	2013-02-05T19:46:35+01:00	2013-02-05T19:46:35+01:00	"Computer is Toshiba P755-S5390. Graphics is Intel Sandy Bridge Gen 2. Processor is Intel I7 Core.
1-Option 1 on install menu will not start. Had to use Install in Video Failsafe.
2-On first install attempt got info that said Gnome 3 would not support Video and was operating in fallback mode.
3-Install did not complete - stopped at 99% when copying files and mouse hung and apparently system frozen.

I can confirm that the download did verify with the MD5 Sum and that K3B assured me that the DVD did verify.
I can also confirm that the DVD when run in verify DVD mode did checksum both properly and tried to install and also hung.

I hope this info will help, as I very much like what I see and hear about this distro."	Old Marine
186	Followup to ticket # 185. Please read it first! (Couldn't find a way to edit it)	Installer System defect	Old Marine	new	2013-02-05T23:46:49+01:00	2013-02-10T21:30:19+01:00	"Decided that I must have done something wrong to have so many problems, so I repeated everything that I reported in ticket # 184, the only difference being that I formattted the disk as ext3 rather than ext4.

Found that I had not waited long enough at the end of the ""copying files"" message. (Even allowing for the full format of a 640 gig drive, the install seemed very very slow!)

Anyway, given enough time it did complete and I got the successful install message. Waited quite a while to see if I would get a ""restart"" prompt but it did not happen. After a long long wait I did a restart and it hung the system. So I then shut the system down with power off, and did a cold restart. Got the grub prompt and it showed the gloria install in grub. When it continued past grub it displayed that lovely desert background and hung up there. No mouse and no further prompts or action.

If I can furnish any further information or help I would be pleased to try. I am a big fan of Evolution, and this seems the only hope of getting it to fully support it. Again, I hope this info is of some help.

81	Installer crashing with 'SCSI 1:0:0:0: rejecting I/O to dead device'	Installer System	1.0 (ramon) defect	parsix-devel@…	new	2008-01-30T13:29:35+01:00	2009-09-20T07:38:24+02:00	"Well, the installer failed after being for a few seconds at ""Copying files: 11%"": it crashed, then the panels crashed, then the whole system was dead.

Rebooting and trying it over was useless.

Rebooting and trying the ""Test CD for defects"" was also useless: ""No md5sums file found on live media."" Oops! (Of course I have checked the MD5 sum of the downloaded ISO file, but it would have been nice to have the LiveCD self-check working too!)

So I assumed the CD is OK. After all, the live session works perfectly!

Rebooting one more time and selecting the text install menu option cleared up a little the mystery: what happens past the 11% of files copying is a huge amount of lines saying this:

SCSI 1:0:0:0: rejecting I/O to dead device

No further details, AFAICT.

My disks are IDE, but since newer kernels are treating everything as SCSI/SATA... it's not my fault, you know.

Debian Etch works with this system, but it's based on the kernel 2.6.18, still using the legacy IDE driver.

So I couldn't install Parsix on the desktop PC, to my deep regret.

What else could I try?

I attempted to install it with:
-- / on /dev/sdb3
-- swap on /dev/sdb1
Note: sda and sdb are HDDs; sdc and sdd are DVD and CD-RW units."	beranger5ca@…

Not a bug, but was wondering if you could implement drag feature using just the touchpad without using the mouse button (on the touchpad).

windows manages to achieve this, by double clicking on the item to be dragged. on the second click, the touchpad is simply dragged until user wishes to release.

If you can't do this, thats fine as i don't think other linux distro's can either, but it would be great to match and beat windows in everything. also, i'm sure it would probably help all the other touchpad laptop users out there.

137	application selection at install time	Installer System	1.5 (viola) defect	parsix-devel@…	new	2008-07-29T03:46:02+02:00	2008-07-29T03:46:02+02:00	"Hi,

I've asked for this feature from other distro's, but I have a feeling that you are probably the only guy that might actually implement this much needed gap in distro installation.

simply put, allow the user to choose which applications get installed right at the beginning when installing the distro.

the user simply ticks the apps he wants from a list (from cd and/or net); and these applicaitons are the ones that are installed - nothing more nothing less.

this really makes sense and would put parsix way ahead of many other distros in this feature alone.

thanks"	lawmanuk@…
157	uninstall from menu	Feature Requests	1.5 (viola) defect	parsix-devel@…	new	2008-09-02T13:51:54+02:00	2008-09-02T13:51:54+02:00	"Hi,

Mint Linux have this really useful feature for newbies. You right click on a menu item and can uninstall directly from there.

when a newbie tries to uninstall from synaptic, the program names and dependencies are often not clear, as they have different names sometimes to the menu name - and the newbie can by mistake remove a necessary component used by other programs etc.

to have a simple remove from the menu item, would be very helpful and ease matters considerably.

182	Antimalware Doctor	Applications defect	parsix-devel@…	new	2012-07-31T16:02:22+02:00	2012-07-31T16:02:22+02:00	"Spy ware and malware are among the numerous issues a computer user will confront. These dangerous and malicious programs can severely destroy your computer’s overall performance, and at times render it irreparable and unusable. That is why it's crucial for computer consumers to choose for apps like antivirus plans and antimalware plans to safeguard their computer systems from these malicious applications.
Today, you can find greater than one hundred various antivirus plans and antispyware applications accessible, each and every of them having distinct pros and cons, whilst promising that they'll shield your PC 100%. While a few of them do meet the needs of personal computer consumers, you will find some programs that don't meet up with the requirements of the personal computer user. An excellent illustration of such program will be the [http://malwareguide.net/Antimalware_Doctor Anti malware Doctor].
Antimalware Doctor: What It's?
Antimalware Doctor can be a plan that stops viruses, spy ware, malware, as well as other harmful applications that may wreck your personal computer. With this kind of a plan put in, you are able to maintain your PC virus-free, maintaining its overall performance in tip-top form.
However, Antimalware Doctor isn't what it appears. Since it turns out, this is a malware by itself. Even worse, as an alternative of guarding your Personal computer from viruses, spywares, and malwares, it allows entry of those damaging applications, like the Conficker virus as well as the W32 blaster worm viruses. And worst of all, it disables all required updates for antivirus applications, which tends to make your Computer vulnerable and open to hackers and Internet crooks. This plan is not an answer to all of your PC woes, but rather, it's yet another problem that will create an entire slew of new Computer difficulties.
If you have installed this system in your PC, right away uninstall it from the personal computer."	silko
