Welcome to Parsix GNU/Linux 0.90r2 Release Notes

Parsix GNU/Linux is a GNU/Linux distribution designed for desktop and laptop computers. It can be used as a live CD too. Parsix GNU/Linux is based Debian and derived from KANOTIX. Parsix GNU/Linux contains the most common and needed applications for desktop/laptop users.

What's New in 0.90r2?

0.90r2 release (codename 'Barry') is an updated version of 0.90x series that contains several fixes and improvements. merges all published updates from Parsix and Debian testing repositories as of Oct 3, 2007. Several bugs have been solved, including installer crash problem in languages other than English, removed some java stuff, OOo-Base, iptraf, redesktop and vncviewer due to space limits, replaced d4x with gwget again. Highlights: GNOME 2.18.3, Linux kernel 2.6.20.1 with CK and Suspend2? patches, OpenOffice.org 2.2.1 and GNU Iceweasel 2.0.0.6. Users who regularly update their systems using apt order essays∞, do not need to download this version. If you wish to do a fresh or update installation, then we recommend to get this version.

Updating Existing Installations

Users with existing Parsix GNU/Linux installations can update their systems using APT or 0.90r2 CD-ROM. Updating with CD-ROM deletes all additional installed packages by certified resume writers∞. So users who have custom installed packages, should reinstall them after update through updated Parsix on the hard disk. A package diff file is saved to /root/diffpackages-xxxxxxxx-xxxx.txt that can be used to reinstall additional packages. Just use a command like the following to use the diff file:

$ apt-get update && apt-get install `cat /root/diffpackages-xxxxxxxx-xxxx.txt`
