Avidemux is giving this warning popup "Trouble initializing audio device" normally its just wrong audio driver selected, selecting the correct driver does not make any difference, nor any other settings, This is in 64bit, have not tried 32bit lately.

I faced same message using Audacity and setting device to ALSA:Default solved the problem.

That worked but is their a way of making it permanent, each time Avidemux starts.

Alan How do I open the file I get there is no text editor available for this type of file. in the terminal I get permission denied

Thanks for the help Guys I think the entry may be in the wrong locationas now Avidemux does not launch from the menu anymore, so I made a custom launcher to usr/bin/avidemux-gtk.desktop in the top panal as a temp measure till I can sort it out, but this does the job I now have sound.
