If they work with Ubuntu, you can make them work on Parsix Smile

hi, i have also a ATi radeon 96oo (SE) - it works in Linux Mint by using Envy - will it work on Parsix too?

Is Parsix still derivated from Kanotix - i don't think so right now, cause the kanotix-scripts arent in the box.
Is Parsix now a Ubuntu-derivate? i dont hope it is only cause you wrote - when i runs in Ubuntu it runs in Parsix!

besides my stupid questions - you all did a great job - your the Sidux with Gnome! Smile

You can build ATI graphics drivers easily. If you are running Parsix Viola, be sure to install 2.6.24-parsix[64]-21 kernel. Then:

Code:
# apt-get update && apt-get install fglrx-kernel-src
# m-a build fglrx-kernel-src -k /usr/src/linux-headers-`uname -r`
# dpkg -i /usr/src/fglrx-kernel-`uname -r`*deb

Viola Test 1 with latest updates is very stable for me (though I don't have ATI graphics card) and I use it daily on my laptop, I don't have any other OS installed, and I'm running WinXP in VirtualBox inside Parsix.

Why don't you test it now, so that if some fixes are needed, they are made before official release? That's the point in test versions.

It's possible to install ati drivers and kernel modules directly from Viola repositories.

# apt-get update && apt-get install fglrx-kernel-`uname -r`

so i installed the fglrx-kernel successfully but still mesadriver does the job

i changed xorg.conf from ati to fglrx and after reboot/restarting xserver my screen is black and stays black.

i also tried to get envyng from ubuntu-hardy but i doesnt work at all - the dependencies might be to ubuntuspecific

i installed the drive by hand too but it also does not like it should.
the driver does not install itself cleanly. and when i want to watch a movie so there are splitters in the screen...

what about Kanos scripts - is there no way to "parsixing" it??

my last try to get the ati-driver running was the Kanotix-script
http://www.kanotix.com/files/install-fglrx-debian.sh

and it works! but there are modifikations on the kernel by adding ubuntu-edgy-moduls and other driver i guess.

Admin and Team your better Linuxer than I am so you might tell me what i have done or if the modules are ok which were added???

right now i'm satisfied Wink
