I posted this in the Kev Test 3:

Quote:
My file manager Krusader freezes up and Thunar reacts very slowly.

I have been playing around with this issue I have in test 3 for three days now. First of all, I installed it on the same partition and same computer that I had test #1 on that did not have this issue. The iso md5sum is good, I have used different burners, burned at slowest speed, and used different media's. The next thing I was going to do was install it on a different computer but I though first I would report this and see if anyone can duplicate this problem.

And got this answer:
Quote:
Mandog is right, the main difference between test-1 and test-3 is the X server

This problem for me in Frankie Testing has not changed. I was hoping it got fixed. I guess my next question would be will this ever get fixed ? I did provide my computer spec's in the Kev 3 testing thread.

I,ve had Frankie 32bt running in vbox for a while and must report so far it is looking very good. I must set up 64bt as well in vbox then set up both on the hard drive in a week or so.

Hi. I am new to Parsix but not to linux. I have used it for some time. Any way i installed 3.0r1 Kev. Worked great. I then installed the Repos for Frankie. When i try to update i get this error.

E: /var/cache/apt/archives/udev_150-2_amd64.deb: subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1

And that is where the update stops. Wish i had more info. but that is all it gives me.

One more bit of info. It seems consolekit is broken.

Try:

Code:
# apt-get update && apt-get -f install && apt-get dist-upgrade

and reboot see how it goes.

That did not work. Everything was a mess. So started over.

The update just stops on that error. So nothing gets updated properly and it will mess the whole system up.

Try to:

Code:
# dpkg -i --force-all /var/cache/apt/archives/udev_150-2_amd64.deb
# apt-get update && apt-get -f install && apt-get dist-upgrade

See if it works this time

Here is the whole error.

Preparing to replace udev 0.141-2 (using .../archives/udev_150-2_amd64.deb) ...
Since release 150, udev requires that support for the CONFIG_SYSFS_DEPRECATED
feature is disabled in the running kernel.

Please upgrade your kernel before or while upgrading udev.

AT YOUR OWN RISK, you can force the installation of this version of udev
WHICH DOES NOT WORK WITH YOUR RUNNING KERNEL AND WILL BREAK YOUR SYSTEM
AT THE NEXT REBOOT by creating the /etc/udev/kernel-upgrade file.
There is always a safer way to upgrade, do not try this unless you
understand what you are doing!

dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/udev_150-2_amd64.deb (--install):
subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
/var/cache/apt/archives/udev_150-2_amd64.deb

Finally i'm looking at Gnome 2.28.2 and parsix kernel 2.6.32-8
Wow it feels good it looks good.
It was not straight forward, Alans suggestion did not work for me, so I upgrade the Kernel
to Debian 2.6.31. then I was able to ,"apt-get update && apt-get -f install && apt-get dist-upgrade" then "apt-get dist-upgrade", about 4 times till all was installed. a bit of a long way round but i'm their now.
still a lot of messages at boot but no doubt Alan will sort that in time.
1st impressions it boots very fast puts Arch/mint boot times to shame.
So now for some testing.
