Dear Mandog!
I hope you get well very very soon!!!!
I have one problem with my favourite Parsix Boss.
Being an adventurous user with little intelligence I managed to mess up my Parsix Boss. In order to fix everything I ran an installation CD and chose “upgrade existing installations of Parsix” which in actual fact meant downgrading for me from Parsix Boss 2.0r0.1 to Parsix Boss 2.0r0. It worked really nicely, but something is wrong with my sound now. When I play music in different players it gives me a very strong hissing sound. But if I move my mouse vigrously or turn on visualization mode, the hissing sound almost goes away. And when I play movies the sound is perfectly fine – no hissing sound at all.
I tried running alsaconf – but it didn't help.
What shall I do?
Thank you very much in advance! |

Unfortunately, I have to say that exactly the same hissing appears in Parsix Boss 32-bit 2.0r1. (I tried it on another computer)
It disappears when i turn on visualization in music players (such as Exaile for example) and when i play videos the sound is nice and clear.
I tried to run alsacon a few times and rebooted the system, went to preferences--sound and tried to change sound devices - hissing is still there.
Looking forward to any advice! |

| Dear Tuchane! I found an simple answer on your question. I had this "hissing" when I used onboard video and audio on m/b with nVidia chipsets. After of some experiments I found that there is only two ways to resolve it. You should insert any PCI-card - video or sound - and to disable appropriating unnecessary onboard function in BIOS. I am not assured that it concerns only nVidia chipsets, but it concerns to all distributions on the basis of Lenny and Squeeze which I know. |
